about me

Erin is a senior health and tech reporter at Business Insider based in San Francisco, where she focuses on startups and Silicon Valley.

Erin joined Business Insider in September 2014 as a science reporter. That year while covering the Western African Ebola epidemic — the most widespread Ebola outbreak in history — she interviewed a CDC contact tracer who spent months on the ground tracking the virus' spread.

While at Business Insider, Erin has worked as a reporter, senior reporter, editor, and correspondent. She's written deeply reported features on everything from psychedelics to a rare, little-known disorder linked with cannabis. In June 2019, she authored an investigation into Silicon Valley startup uBiome that probed what went wrong at the company leading up to an FBI raid.

Before joining Business Insider, Erin worked as a freelance health and science reporter for outlets including NewsweekPopular Science, and Scientific American.

Erin graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, San Diego and received her master's from the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism in New York, where she spent an extra semester completing her degree after breaking both wrists in a snowboarding accident.

In her free time, find her on her mat. She’s also an RYT-200 certified yoga teacher.
